Another Perhaps

I woke up from a dream,
That lasted an eternity it seems,
And in it I was but a hopeless fool,

But if given a second chance another time,
I’d go back and commit the same crime,
I’d rob, lie and cheat my heart all over again,

It was but a story written ineptly,
A story made of the purest, wildest fantasy,
Better to have dreamt than not I believe,

Perhaps if things were a little different,
But there are just some lessons I’ll never learn,
And I’ll just keep telling myself:
